flowers

Inspired by literature and art, I began taking photographs. The process of reading books, considering their impressions, and finally using flowers as motifs for my photographs was unexpectedly thrilling and interesting. Influenced by Ango Sakaguchi, Marguerite Duras, Kazuo Ishiguro, classic literature, and sometimes even manga, I felt as if I was enjoying a secret game of catch-all that transcended time and space.

文芸にインスパイアされて作品を撮り始めた。読了後に思索をめぐらし、モチーフを花に定めて形にしていく作業は思いのほかスリリングで面白いものだった。坂口安吾やマルグリット・デュラス、カズオ・イシグロあるいは古典文学、時にはコミックスなどにもインスパイされていくと時間も空間も超えて、密かなキャッチボールをしているような楽しさが募る。
