Alternative process

写真作品における古典技法にも多様なものがあり、いずれもデジタル写真ではなしえない手工業的な魅力がある。ここでは古典技法の中でも比較的取り組みやすいプラチナプリントとサイアノタイプで花たち表現してみた。とりわけサイアノタイプは感光剤を塗った用紙に直接、花びらや葉をレイアウトしてイメージをつくってから陽の光（紫外線）に当てて感光させ、最後に水洗いして完成する。この水洗いの際に使用する薬品によっては、さまざまに階調が変わり豊かな表情が表れてくるのも面白い。

There are a variety of classical techniques in photography, all of which have a handcrafted charm that cannot be achieved with digital photography. Here, I tried to express flowers using platinum prints and cyanotypes, which are relatively easy to work with among the classical techniques. In cyanotype, in particular, an image is created by placing petals and leaves directly onto paper coated with a photosensitive agent, then exposing the image to sunlight (ultraviolet light) and finally washing it in water to complete the process. Depending on the chemicals used during the rinsing process, the tonal gradations change in different ways, creating an interesting and rich expression.
